Leben. Viktor Emil Frankl wurde am 26. März 1905 in Wien Leopoldstadt als zweites Kind von Gabriel Frankl, Ministerialrat, und Elsa geb. Lion geboren. 1923 legte er die Matura unter anderem mit einer Abhandlung über Die Psychologie des philosophischen Denkens ab. . Er studierte Medizin, wobei sich Depressionen und Suizid zu seinen Schwerpunktthemen entwickelten.
